Christopher M Patrick, a former U.S. Marine, entered the Middle East Studies program at Dickinson College in 2010. At Dickinson College, Mr. Patrick’s academic interests include modern Middle Eastern history, the culture and politics of the Persian Gulf, U.S. relations in the region, Iraq, and Iran. His time spent in the Marine Corps has led to a specific interest in U.S. military intervention in the region, Iraqi politics and foreign policy, and the future of U.S. policy in the region. Prior to enrolling at Dickinson, Mr. Patrick served as an infantryman in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2002-2006, which included three tours to Iraq, and in the U.S. Marine Reserves, as an artillery forward observer, from 2008-2009. He has been decorated for his service in Iraq’s Anbar province as well as for his leadership in the Marine Reserves. From 2007 until his entrance into Dickinson College in 2010, Mr. Patrick worked in the banking industry with Wells Fargo Bank and Sovereign Bank. Currently, Mr. Patrick lives in central Pennsylvania with his extremely patient and supportive wife and his sometimes annoying chocolate lab.
